User Friendly Pilates in El Cerrito at Tatami Multi Arts

User Friendly Pilates integrates Pilates and Feldenkrais® Movement, with elements of  Yoga and Dance. It can help you learn to move more gracefully, balance better, walk easier, and get fit without getting hurt.

Pilates Moving Anatomy: A Guide to Mat Work & Core Stability

 FRIDAYS, 12-1:15 pm, 5/9-6/6, five classes + one private session. Max 8 $200 (four spaces available as of 4/13/14)
This class will develop “inner body knowledge” about the structure, function and movement qualities of Pilates mat exercises. It is a mixed-level class, yet some experience in Pilates, Yoga, or Dance is recommended. Please call if you have any questions about your ability to participate.

  • EXPLORE the ‘moving anatomy’ of twenty different Pilates mat exercises
  • DISCOVER proper awareness and mental focus to get stronger without getting hurt
  • INVESTIGATE the key Pilates’ principles of breath, concentration, center, control, precision & flow

Required Reading: “Pilates Anatomy”, by Rael Isacowitz & Karen Clippinger ($10-$16 at Amazon.com).
Please read chapters 1-3 (50 pages)  before first class. Thanks.

YOGA STUDENTS: Pilates can help you experience the anatomy of movement to deepen your Yoga practice, stabilize your lower back, improve balance in standing postures, and protect your joints. Discover how to move with more awareness, ease and comfort, rather than forcing yourself into postures. The Yoga Room has heated hardwood floors, high ceilings, natural light. Location is not far from Caffe Trieste, in same building with the Ecology Center.
